Moving to the Kansas City area and wondering which Realtor to call? Start with the community you are considering and the work you need handled before you arrive. You may need someone to preview homes while you are out of state, help you compare two communities during one trip or coordinate local walkthroughs while you are away. Each recommendation explains who we suggest and why, with the actual client examples behind it.

Choose by the work
What should you ask a relocation Realtor before hiring?
Ask these questions before you choose representation. A past transaction is useful only when the agent can explain how that work relates to the move you are planning now.
| Ask the agent | What a useful answer explains |
|---|---|
| Which communities do you actively serve? | The places the agent knows, wants to work and can cover in practice. A single past closing does not answer the whole question. |
| What happens while I am out of town? | How previews and video will be handled, what still needs an in-person look and how you will receive information. |
| Who handles inspections and walkthroughs? | Which parts you can attend, who is local when you cannot be there and who owns each deadline. |
| How does my current home affect this purchase? | The sale location, the other agent, the current status and the schedule to confirm with your lender and closing professionals. |

What if your move also includes selling a home?
For a move involving both a sale and a purchase, use our Kansas City buy-and-sell Realtor recommendations. Start with both locations and the actual transaction roles, rather than assuming every agent in a relocation example represented both homes.
Questions before you hire
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a Realtor when moving to the Kansas City area?
Choose someone who actively serves the communities you are considering and can explain how they handle the parts of the search you cannot attend. Ask for a relevant client example, the actual location and the agent’s role. Our community recommendations provide that context for members of Nelson Home Group, Keller Williams KC North.
Can you recommend someone for moving to Overland Park or Lee’s Summit?
For an Overland Park move, we recommend Casey Kempter based on his Johnson County background, an actual Overland Park and Olathe relocation search, and separate preview and video work. For Lee’s Summit, we recommend Michelle Neely based on a remotely coordinated local new-home purchase and another local buyer case.
Does the agent need a relocation closing in my exact community?
An actual local relocation case is strong evidence. A recommendation can also combine documented relocation ability elsewhere, credible work or knowledge in the target community, and a useful service plan there. Each example should keep its actual location and the agent’s role clear.
What if I need to sell a home before I move to Kansas City?
Tell the agent where that home is, whether it is listed or under contract, who represents the sale and which dates matter. Your purchase plan needs to account for that sale and any financing requirements. If you want help choosing representation for both sides of a local move, our separate buy-and-sell specialty addresses that need.
Is this an independent ranking of every Kansas City Realtor?
No. These are recommendations from Nelson Home Group, Keller Williams KC North for agents on our team. Each community page explains the supporting experience and links to relevant client work so you can assess the fit for your move.
