Sept 20, 2023: Parkville, Missouri Tour | Top Things to Do in Parkville

Kansas City is one of the fastest growing cities in the country thanks to booming job opportunities, rich culture, and affordable housing market. We are no longer a flyover town and instead a thriving blend of urban and rural living, right here in the heart of America. I’m Joe Nelson, leading Realtor in Kansas City and today I’m excited to show you around Parkville, one KC’s hottest suburbs. It’s a 15 square mile area located on the riverfront with a rich history. Parkville has the most beautiful parks, a charming downtown, amazing restaurants, and boutiques.
Let’s go check it out!

Park University
Established in 1844, Parkville has harrowed its way through conflicts over slavery and prohibition to become a town where young minds bring new and diverse ideas into the world. Its long running history shows in the rich mix of architecture from the 1800s through the present day. Parkville also stands out among its neighbors as a college town. In 1886, students came together to lay the stonework of Mackay Hall which still stands today. Today, Park University draws people from all over the world. If you’re paying a visit to Parkville, the three things you have to check out are the local farmer’s market, the cafe district, and English Landing Park.

Shopping & Downtown
The shopping district on Main Street is home to all kinds of local boutiques and grocers. Check out The Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays for goods and produce from local vendors and farmers. With its fresh air, fresh ingredients, and freshly cut flowers, it’s a staple visit for your weekly grocery list. Old Town Sweets and Antiques serves deli-style sandwiches and old fashioned candy while you browse antiques and collectibles. And Farmhouse Collection sells a variety of gifts, candles and decor. Don’t forget to come back around the holidays for beautifully crafted decorations you won’t get anywhere else.

Dining
After working up an appetite shopping, you have to check out one of the tasty local restaurants. The Craic Irish Pub gets its name from the Irish word for fun. Enjoy a glass of whiskey and a reuben with live music from local bands every Friday and Saturday night. If you’re in the mood for something more intimate, Cafe des Amis serves amazing French cuisine.
With outdoor seating and over 160 French wines, it’s the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Cap it all off with a sweet treat from The Bakers Table. Family owned and dishing up delicious pies, cakes, pastries and more, you can drop by on a whim or place a custom order for your next celebration.

Parks & Entertainment
If you’re looking for something to do that evening or a fun way to spend your Saturday, Parkville offers mini golf, athletic parks, and over 4 miles of walking trails. You can even bring your furry best friend with you to the Platte Landing Dog Park. English Landing Park is 68 acres of beautiful scenery that hosts town events along the riverfront, with shelters, stages, and baseball and soccer fields.
